The peer-reviewed journal Advances in Polar Science (APS) has announced the release schedule for four upcoming special issues to be published in 2026 and 2027, highlighting key developments in polar research and encouraging contributions from the international scientific community.

IntroMynd APS Mars2026Since October 2025, Advances in Polar Science (APS) has been an official journal endorsed by the Asian Forum for Polar Sciences (AFoPS). With generous support from the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC), the journal operates as a fully open-access publication with no article processing charges.

APS also places a strong emphasis on supporting early-career researchers, providing an accessible platform for emerging voices in polar science.

The upcoming special issues will address major themes in Arctic and Antarctic research, reflecting the growing importance of understanding polar systems in a global context:

These special issues will be published as part of the journal’s regular volumes and are open for submissions. Researchers are encouraged to contribute manuscripts that advance understanding of polar processes and their global linkages.

APS also welcomes proposals for future Special Issues or Thematic Columns, particularly those that promote strong international collaboration across polar research communities.
